Mission and Vision

Our Mission: Hill Country Council for the Arts is a resource for the arts, artists, arts organizations, and supporters of the arts in the Texas Hill Country (counties of Kendall, Lampasas, Llano, Bexar, Comal, Atascosa, Frio, Gillespie, Hays, Kerr, Blanco and Burnet).

Our focus: Is to enhance community awareness, develop opportunities for involvement, encourage individual and corporate financial support, and develop a long range plan for promoting the growth of the Arts within the nineteen Hill Country counties of the BCA.

Description

New Partnership
The Agricultural Heritage Center and Hill Country Council for the Arts have partnered-up to rebrand the museum for a new generation! Now, the once agricultural equipment display has been renamed The AgriCULTURAL Boerne Texas, fulfilling its potential in being A Cultural Destination for the Arts, Music, and Living History. Together, fantastic programs can continue to thrive and grow, like Dickens on Main Children’s Art, the Boerne BierFest, woodworking demos and classes, antique tractor pulls and much more!

OUR PROGRAMS:
Hill Country Council for the Arts is a resource for the arts, artists, arts organizations, and supporters of the arts in the Texas Hill Country.

Performance Arts:
HCCArts actively promotes the productions of our Partners: Boerne Performing Arts, Boerne Community Theatre, S.T.A.G.E. Krause House Theater and Boerne Independent School District’s Fine Arts Department. HCCArts also publishes Texas Hill Country events in print and social media.

Education
Research shows that students who participate in the fine arts are more accomplished academically and lead more well-rounded and self-disciplined lives. HCCArts supports the Boerne Independent School District Fine Arts Department’s theater, music, dance and visual arts programs.

Public Arts
In 2011, the city of Boerne approved a Public Art Resolution in support of HCCArts’ Public Art Master Plan to bring public art to the gateways and cityscape of Boerne and Kendall County. “Father Gander,” a bronze sculpture by Larry Stevens in River Road Park, was the first piece. HCCArts worked with the city of Boerne and Texas Treasures Fine Art Gallery to purchase Erik Christianson’s life-size bronze sculpture, “Wild Bill Hickok”, now installed at Main Plaza.

Visual Arts
Painting, sculpture and photography are among the broad range of visual arts HCCArts supports as essential to the quality of community life. The Hill Country is blessed with flourishing art galleries and artists’ groups, including the Boerne Professional Artists and the Boerne Art League. Currently, HCCArts and the Cibolo Nature Center & Farm are co-sponsoring “Art and Conservation: Our Hidden Treasures,” a biennial collaboration between artists and landowners to promote conservation of Hill Country natural lands, water, wildlife and plants.

Literary Arts
HCCArts supports Boerne’s Patrick Heath Public Library, which offers services from children’s reading programs and adult book discussion groups to computer classes, Spanish classes, speakers, art, live concerts and more with help from the Boerne Public Library Foundation.

Business & the Arts
HCCArts believes that business can do more than just do business. The tools in the business toolbox can combine cultural vitality and economic benefit to better our communities. Get down to business – and art – with Business Committee for the Arts.
