Mission and Vision

OUR MISSION:

Drug Free Comfort seeks to eliminate dangerous and illegal drugs from our schools and community by raising awareness and knowledge and implementing drug prevention programs.

Through parent education, dynamic youth programs, and engagement with key stakeholders, Drug Free Comfort is dedicated to the promotion of healthy family relationships, emotional wellness, and the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse in our community.

OUR OBJECTIVE:

Drug Free Comfort is a community coalition made up of parents, educators, community leaders, law enforcement, and those interested in making a positive impact in the lives of our community’s young people. This non-profit organization works to eliminate dangerous and illegal drugs from Comfort schools and our community as a whole by raising awareness and knowledge of dangerous and illegal drugs by implementing effective drug prevention programs.

Description

A COMMUNITY COALITION PROMOTING AWARENESS, EDUCATION, AND PREVENTION.
Most people, including parents, are not aware of the new trends in dangerous and illegal drugs. There has been a big increase in the availability and use of these drugs. Deaths due to drug overdose are at an all-time high. In Texas in 2020, deaths due to drug overdose were up 32% to over 4,000. Opioids, including drugs laced with Fentanyl, have been a primary cause of these deaths.
Research shows that chronic marijuana use, especially by those under the age of 26, can cause brain damage and promote mental illness, including psychosis, depression, and suicidal ideation. Marijuana is often a gateway drug leading to other dangerous and addictive drugs.

WE HELP:

Drug Free Comfort works with the Kendall County Sheriff’s offices, the Comfort Independent School District, Homeland Security, the US Drug Enforcement Agency, other drug prevention experts, and Comfort community organizations and churches to develop effective drug prevention programs. We schedule presentations for students in grades 5 through 12 and their parents. We offer Comfort community programs by providing meaningful and educational information about emerging drug trends.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

With the support from all members of our community, we can help to prevent drug use and provide resources for those needing assistance. If you’re interested in learning more about Drug Free Comfort, visit us at our website, drugfreecomfort.org. We'd love to have you join us!
