HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER (HCV) PROGRAM
The Boerne Housing Authority administers the Housing Choice Voucher program for the city of Boerne, Texas.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT (HUD)
The HCV program is funded by HUD and is the federal government's major program to assist income-eligible households.
Description
HOURS: Monday thru Thursday 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.
AREA SERVED: Kendall County
SERVICES OFFERED TO: Low income, very low income, and extremely low income persons and families.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Program provides rental assistance for decent, safe, and sanitary housing in
the private market. The unit is inspected to ensure it meets the housing quality standards set forth in the HUD guidelines. Eligible applicants must meet the income limits and will be required to pay a portion of the rent which is the greater of a $50 minimum, 10% of gross income, or 30% of adjusted monthly income. The unit the family selects will be required to pass a rent reasonable test and may be approved at a higher rental rate than the government standard. The family, in this case, would then pay the excess in addition to
their portion of the rent. At no time will a newly participating family or moving family pay more than 40% total of their adjusted monthly income toward their portion of the rent if they select a unit in excess of the payment standard. This 40% rule does not apply if the family selects a unit equal to or less than the payment standard.
