Mission and Vision

The Boerne Aquatic Center, the future home of Boerne Blaze Special Olympics, was established to provide a community based facility for aquatic activities centered on athletes with special needs.

Description

The Boerne community has every reason to be proud of our very own Special Olympics Aquatic Team! The inset photo shows many of our athletes who have recently brought medals home from the 2019 state meet! 2020 and 2021 meets were cancelled due to COVID, so the next meet is set for October, 2022.

Our challenge for our future success is finding adequate training facilities in the area that cater to our growing population and the special athlete. Thus, a 501(c)3 charitable organization has been formed to plan for, fund, build and maintain a suitable swimming facility for these athletes. The design of the building would include an 8-lane, 25 meter pool, fitted with ramps for accessibility; dressing rooms with showers, family changing rooms, retractable stands and a concession stand providing for the ability to host competitions and guests.

A building design and cost estimate have been completed and we move to the fundraising phase of the project. For more information on the project and for ways you can support it, please reach out to 210-213-6886.
