Mission and Vision
Meals on Wheels Kendall County prepares and delivers hot, nutritious meals each weekday to older and disabled community members living throughout Kendall County and the surrounding Boerne area.
Meals on Wheels is a public-private partnership that enables seniors to remain more healthy and independent in their own homes, where they want to be, avoiding far more costly healthcare alternatives, such as unnecessary trips to the emergency room, hospitalizations and nursing home placements.
One of the largest focuses of Rainbow Senior Center is Nutrition. According to Meals on Wheels America, “Nine million seniors face the threat of hunger, and millions more live alone in isolation.”
Every meal is carefully crafted by our Chef, Mike, to ensure that our Boerne seniors have their dietary needs met. This menu serves for both our congregate lunch (drive-through service available during COVID-19), as well as our Meals on Wheels home delivered meals.
***If you have a restriction to the protein offered on the menu for the day, you may order a grilled chicken breast as a sub to the protein offered. But PLEASE CALL AHEAD to place this special order. (830)-249-2114***
Every weekday Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers more than a meal to our senior friends and neighbors. Frequent in-home visits provide unique opportunities to meet nutritional needs, combat social isolation, address safety hazards and provide holistic care.
Meals on Wheels has been guided by a single goal since the first known U.S. delivery by a small group of Philadelphia citizens in 1954 – to support our senior neighbors to extend their independence and health as they age. What started as a compassionate idea has grown into one of the largest and most effective social movements in America, currently helping nearly 2.4 million seniors annually in virtually every community in the country.
